Since June, individual stock perpetuals have overtaken both indices and commodities within HIP-3, now representing 61% of all RWA trading volume. The HIP-3 platform has already hosted pre-IPO markets for SpaceX, Anthropic, and OpenAI. The single most-traded stock on the platform is SK Hynix, the South Korean memory chipmaker that competes with Samsung in AI-focused high-bandwidth memory production.
The dominance of RWAs on a venue built for crypto trading suggests that decentralized exchange infrastructure may find its most active use cases outside of cryptocurrency itself. ARK Invest's Valente directly questioned the assumption that RWA and crypto trading will converge on the same platforms.
Hyperliquid's native token HYPE traded at $57.00 at the time of writing, down 0.62% on the day. The exchange's growing RWA volume has not directly translated into near-term price momentum for the token, though the staking requirement of 500,000 HYPE per HIP-3 market creates structural demand tied to platform expansion.
Bitcoin traded at $64,093 and Ethereum at $1,857.73, both down modestly on the day. The broader crypto market showed no significant reaction to the Hyperliquid data, suggesting that the RWA volume milestone is being processed by the market as a DeFi infrastructure story rather than a general crypto catalyst.
SK Hynix's real-world shares have been the standout beneficiary, with the stock's perpetual contracts generating the highest single-asset volume among all HIP-3 markets. The stock's AI-linked semiconductor narrative aligns with the broader institutional appetite for chipmaker exposure.
