Bitcoin is climbing while chip stocks tied to the AI boom are selling off, and the divergence is sharp. Decrypt reports that Nvidia, Intel, and other semiconductor names are dropping as analysts question whether the AI spending cycle has peaked.
Capital is rotating out of crowded tech positions and into Bitcoin, which is absorbing that flow rather than selling off alongside the broader risk-off move.
That rotation has a visible institutional fingerprint. Strive, the Bitcoin treasury company, added 469 Bitcoin in a single purchase that pushed its holdings to exactly 25,000 BTC. The Block reports the deal cost $36.6 million, a figure that shows how much corporate cash is still committed to Bitcoin even as AI-linked equities lose ground.
Strive is now among the largest corporate holders of the asset, and it keeps buying.
Wall Street is following. Morgan Stanley, through analyst Amy Oldenburg, has published a Bitcoin investment recommendation that lays out the case for institutional allocation, according to Bitcoin Magazine. A major bank formally recommending a product is a different signal from a hedge fund accumulating quietly. It opens doors for clients who need compliance approval before they can buy.
The ecosystem also carries its own stress points. Cryptoslate reports that Bitcoin exchanges can reduce quantum exposure ahead of a planned network upgrade, meaning the risk is real but manageable if operators coordinate. Separately, Symbiosis recovered 15 BTC after a bridge exploit, though the bridge itself remains paused while the team works through the aftermath, per CryptoDaily UK.
Strategy, the company that pioneered the corporate Bitcoin treasury model, took a different path this cycle. Bitcoin Magazine reports that Strategy bought back its own stock instead of adding to its Bitcoin holdings, a choice that signals where management sees relative value right now. Strive is still accumulating. That gap between the two approaches is worth watching.
The question for the next two weeks is whether the chip sell-off deepens and pulls more capital into Bitcoin, or whether the rotation fades and both asset classes settle back. Strive's next purchase and Strategy's next move will be early signals either way.
