Data & model methodology
This page explains how CoinBatmi sources prices, ranks assets, and produces research signals. We prioritize free public APIs and transparent limitations over black-box claims.
Market data
Spot prices and market statistics are aggregated from multiple free providers. Primary venues (Binance, OKX, Bybit, Kraken, Coinbase, and peers) are preferred over aggregators (CoinGecko, CoinPaprika, and similar). When sources disagree, we merge quotes and surface multi-source confidence. If live providers fail, we may serve a last-known-good snapshot and mark it as stale.
Perpetual funding and open interest come from free public futures APIs (multi-venue median when available). DeFi TVL, L2 chain TVL, and stablecoin supply use DefiLlama free endpoints. Governance uses Snapshot GraphQL for active proposals.
Rankings follow market-capitalization order when available. Pagination on the market terminal walks that universe page by page.
Freshness, provenance, and failure states
Every displayed metric should be interpreted with its source category, fetch time, and freshness state. A last-known-good value is a fallback snapshot, not a live quote; when a provider is unavailable or coverage is partial, the product should expose that limitation instead of implying certainty.
- Observed facts: provider responses, exchange prints, protocol totals, and timestamps that can be checked against the cited source.
- Derived measures: rankings, medians, changes, spreads, and aggregates calculated from observed inputs using documented units and time windows.
- Model interpretation: AI answers and path estimates that may be incomplete or wrong; they are labeled as research context, not evidence or a promise of future returns.
- Corrections: material errors should be reported through the editorial policy so the claim, source, and revised timestamp can be reviewed.
Provider registry
Every data source is registered with a capability (for example market.price, derivatives.funding, defi.tvl). The collector / BFF asks the registry for the best free provider, with circuit breakers and fallbacks. See the live map below or the full list on Providers .
Research signals (TimesFM / crypto-v1)
Short-horizon path estimates may use a TimesFM sidecar when available, otherwise a crypto-tuned statistical path (log-space smoothing, volatility regimes, and mean-reversion dampening). These are research aids only. They are not predictions of future returns and must not be treated as trade signals.
Batmi AI
Batmi AI routes free-tier models with task-aware failover. Market answers are supposed to cite numbers from live CoinBatmi context when present; if context is missing, the model should say so rather than invent prints. Output is sanitized for readability. Still: language models can err.
News desk
Desk stories are original CoinBatmi notes built from free multi-source wires and verified multi-source tape (spot, and funding/OI when resolved). We do not republish full third-party articles. Numbers outside the verified set are not invented.
