First Staked Tron ETF Debuts on US Exchanges Wednesday Under TRXS Ticker
The first staked cryptocurrency ETF tied to Tron starts trading Wednesday on US exchanges. Canary Staked TRX ETF will list under the ticker TRXS, giving traditional-market investors a way to hold TRX without setting up a crypto wallet or interacting with a blockchain directly.
It is also the first US ETF that wraps staking rewards into the product itself.
Staking earns yield, and this fund captures it
Here is the part that matters. Tron runs on proof-of-stake, a system where token holders lock up their coins to help validate transactions and earn new tokens as a reward. That yield flows to anyone staking directly on the network.
The Canary fund will stake the TRX it holds and fold those rewards back into the fund's net asset value. So investors in TRXS are not just getting price exposure to TRX. They are also getting a slice of the staking income the network pays out.
That is different from every other crypto ETF on the market so far. Most spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs buy the underlying token and hold it in a vault. They do not stake.
They do not generate yield. The investor gets the price, and that is it.
Tron's stablecoin story is what caught Canary's eye
Canary Capital CEO Steven McClurg pointed to Tron's role in stablecoin transfers as the reason for the product, according to a statement the firm released. The Tron blockchain handles a large share of global stablecoin settlement because transactions are cheap and fast.
That has made it a backbone for cross-border payments in regions where banking infrastructure is thin. TRX has a market capitalization of $32.1 billion, per The Block's price data, placing it eighth among all cryptocurrencies.
That is big, but the number that matters more for this ETF is the volume of stablecoins moving across Tron every day. Those flows give the network real utility beyond speculation, and Canary is betting that utility shows up in long-term demand for TRX.
Canary's playbook: get in early on every chain
The Tron ETF fits a pattern for Canary Capital. Over the past year the firm has launched tracking products for HBAR, Litecoin, and XRP, The Block. Each one targeted a top-twenty token that did not yet have a US-listed ETF.
The strategy is to file first, list first, and let the issuer brand stick as the default. For Tron, that first-mover advantage carries extra weight because staking is built into the product. Competitors would need to replicate both the ETF wrapper and the staking infrastructure.
That takes time, and the SEC approval process is not fast. Justin Sun, Tron's founder, said in a statement the ETF demonstrates growing recognition of the Tron network as infrastructure for the global digital economy.
What the listing means for investors
Buying TRXS will work like buying any other stock or ETF through a brokerage account. The fund holds TRX, stakes it, and the share price moves with both the token's market value and the staking yield earned. There is no need to manage private keys, stake tokens on-chain, or choose a validator.
The tradeoff is fees. Canary will charge an expense ratio for managing the fund, staking the assets, and handling the custody. That fee will eat into some of the staking yield.
Investors will need to compare the net return of TRXS against buying and staking TRX directly to decide which route makes sense. The fund begins trading Wednesday.
Watch the first-week volume for a read on whether institutional money actually wants a staked altcoin product, or whether this is one more ETF launched into a quiet market.
Frequently Asked Questions
+What does "staked" mean in the context of this ETF?
The fund locks up the TRX it holds on the Tron network to earn staking rewards, and those rewards increase the fund's net asset value over time.
+How is this different from the spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs already on the market?
Existing spot crypto ETFs hold the underlying token but do not stake it, so they generate no yield. TRXS earns staking income in addition to tracking TRX's price.
+Can I buy TRXS in any brokerage account?
Yes. Once it lists, TRXS trades like any other ETF through standard brokerage accounts with no crypto wallet or exchange account required.
