How this is calculated
Gains from transferring a Virtual Digital Asset (VDA) are taxed at a flat 30% under Section 115BBH — regardless of holding period, with no loss offset and no carry-forward. A 1% TDS applies to the transfer value under Section 194S (transitioning to Section 393(1) of the new Income-tax Act, 2025, for transactions from April 2026 onward), withheld independently of whether the trade was a gain or loss. Exchange fees carry 18% GST, charged on the fee itself, not on your trade value or profit.
Full sourcing, thresholds, and the FIU-IND/AML context are in the India crypto tax rules guide. This calculator is a research helper, not tax or legal advice — verify current figures with a qualified Indian chartered accountant before filing.
